As performed by Bishop J.W.Ghoren in the Diocese of Delaware, USA. The lines marked with bullets are specific to the anointing of a Priest, for which Bishop Ghoren created this service, but can easily be altered to fit Anointings to other stations. Alternate text for four such stations - Deacon, Legate, Inquisitor and Bishop - follow the Rite.

Anointing a Priest of the Damned

Celebrant:
In the name of God the Father, the Man and the Holy Spirit,

All: Amen

Celebrant:
To Almighty God, Let us Pray...
Through the teachings of our Dark Father, the Centurion Longinus,
who did reveal the Divinity of Christ,
And through the guidance of Vashtisael,
who did reveal unto Longinus our Purpose in God's Plan,
In the tradition of Saint Monachus, St. Daniel and all our Dark Saints,
tonight we come before You to mark the growth of ( # ) of our own in his/her/their mission.

(Name or Names), please step forward.

(The anointees should step up to the bottom of the dais.)

May the Lord be with you.

Anointee: And also with you.

Celebrant:
Before your (Celebrant's title) and God,
please proclaim the Commandments given unto the Damned by Longinus:

Anointee:

One, That though you are Damned, your Damnation has purpose. It is the will of God that you are what you are, and the will of God is that the Damned exist to show the evils of turning from Him. The evil become Damned; God has taken those worthy of His love to His own side.

Two, That what you once were is not what you now are. As a mortal is a sheep, so are the Damned wolves among them. That role is defined by nature — wolves feed on their prey, but they are not cruel to them. The role of predator is natural, even if the predator himself is not.

Three, That an ordained hierarchy exists. As man is above beasts, so are the Damned above men. Our numbers are fewer so that our purpose is better effected.

Four, That with the power of Damnation comes limitation. The Damned hide among those who still enjoy God's love, making themselves known only to exemplify fear. The Damned shall make none of their own, for such is a judgment of soul that is the purview only of God. The Damned shall suffer yet more should they slay a fellow to take his soul from him.

Five, That our bodies are not our own. Our purpose is to serve, and when we stray from that purpose, we are to be chastened. The light of the sun excoriates; the flames of a fire purify fleshly evil. The taste of all sustenance other than Vitae is as ash upon the tongue.

Celebrant:
Do you believe in the One True God, Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth?

Anointee: I do.

Celebrant:
Do you believe in the Divine Purpose of the Kindred as revealed to us by the Dark Father?

Anointee: I do.

Celebrant:
Do you pledge to uphold and spread the Scriptures as recorded by St. Monachus, and the teachings of his Church?

Anointee: I do.

Celebrant:

  • And do you, before God and your fellow Damned, swear to hold dear the Traditions, laws and community of the Sanctified, and to work each night to bring more Kindred to their Holy Purpose?

Anointee: I do.

Celebrant:

Let us pray.

Lord, we know that our sins make us unworthy of your light and grace, yet we thank you for the guidance of Longinus and the community of his church. Through our Saints and the Host, we pray for Strength and Wisdom for all Sanctified.

As these faithful stand before you, I ask for your hand and the wisdom of the Dark Father to guide them. Gird their faith, O Lord, as they deepen their works of faith for your Damned Church.

Step up, and receive the Blood of our faith, sustained by our predations, made Holy by our Purpose.

(The anointee(s) should step up to the altar, as the celebrant raises a ceremonial blade and holds it at his own wrist, over a candle. Each anointee in turn must cup their hand just above the fire as the celebrant pours his blood into their hand.)

Yet a curse it is, and we embrace our Damnation that we may live out its Purpose.

(The following is said for each anointee, as the celebrant blesses and then dips his fingers in the blood held by each and marks a spear upon their face. When Anointing other than a priest, "Reverend" in the next line should be replaced with the appropriate title.)

Now, Reverend, thou art Anointed.
In the name of God, and faith in the teachings of his servant Longinus,
Bear the Cursed Blood of Holy Purpose, and be Sanctified.

(The anointees drink what remains in their hands.)

In Blood and Fire, bliss and bane, know now that you are Damned.

  • As Priests, in the message that is your sword, as in your shield and shelter of faith, know you are Sanctified.
  • Now go forth, cut a swath through ignorance and apathy,
  • give succor to Kindred seeking the shelter and strength of faith,

and, as always, give a taste of hell to the kine who deserve it.

For all - better here than forever in Hell.

Do you know what his Mercy has given you?
Cut off from Grace but not Purpose, do you know what you are?

Anointee: Sum Sanctus— I am Sanctified!

Celebrant:
In Blood and Fire,
Through Faith
In the name of
God the Father,
God the Man,
And God the Spirit,

All: Amen.
