Brother Saul appears as a tall young Kindred of 25. He is never to be found without his clerical collar, usually worn under a modern-cut Italian suit, and an armful of books, papers, and elaborate plans. Despite his physical stature, he is quiet and unimposing; it is not uncommon to look up from a conversation and remember that he has been standing there the entire time. That isn't to say he hides in the shadows; Brother Saul's youthful energy invariably places him right in the middle of the action. In his desperate attempts to be taken seriously, he sometimes talks in a stilted, inappropriately formal tone, and the overall effect is rarely endearing. Despite this, he is looked upon fondly as an apt pupil, an eager citizen of the city, and a respected scholar.

Not even his closest confidants know Saul's true history.
As a mortal at Stafford in 1997, he was a modern-day Friar Lawrence, finding God first in science, and later in synthetic "designer" drugs. As his fame spread, he began to attract stranger and stranger customers. At the behest of a client, he ended up specializing in drugs that grew more potent when they were drunk from someone else's blood. No more did the trips he designed lead imbibers to God; rather, they became dark affairs of lust and muddy confusion.
No one knows what happpened between 1997, when his friends were found murdered and sexually abused, and 2002, when he appeared in Columbus, OH. All that is known is that though he knew of his vampiric condition and quite a bit about Damned society, he was woefully ignorant of how to act properly. How is it possible he spent five years learning these things so incorrectly?
Ten years later, Brother Saul has become quite a bit more uptight. Under the strict religious tutleuge of Brother Tolerance, and the world-class political lessons of Bishop Edward Cromwell, Saul has made a place for himself. He has found truer religious experiences in Theban miracles and the mob mentality of Mass, though he still studies the drugs that affect the Damned even though they have no metabolism.
