Cardinal Tiernan Callaghan appears to most to be an unusual looking man of Irish descent with red hair, striking features, and piercing, almost unnatural, eyes. Well-spoken and erudite, Tiernan exudes an air of social acumen, knowledge, wisdom, and patience to those who meet him. Known for his open nature and love of learning, it is said that he is one of the more approachable members of the Sanctum's high clergy, despite a deep and unyielding faith to the precepts of Longinus. Paradoxically, he is known to maintain ties and connections with club and bar scene in these modern nights, often placing himself as an observer and patron in the middle of the mortal world.

Rumored to be one of the original followers of Columcille (Saint Columba) in the 6th century, Cardinal Tiernan Callaghan has been an outspoken and passionate member of the Lancea Sanctum, seeing that the ideal of conversion through good works and preservation of knowledge mirror itself among the Damned as a holy mission as his own native land of Ireland was converted to the worship of Christ.

Despite a tolerant nature for a Hardliner Sanctified elder, and an apparent obsession for manners, it is said he has a frightful temper as well. It is also said that those who show themselves to be enemies of the faith are dealt with in a swift and merciless manner. Equally frightening are the number of paladins that he associates with, each of them a warrior and member of the Sanctum brought into the fold by his patronage.

He is known to have traveled much in his long life, having been noted in the Cluniac movement of medieval monasticism, the Spanish Reconquesta, and present at the fall of the Christian kingdoms in the Holy Land. For a time he was a long standing cornerstone of the Catholic centered city of New Orleans in the New World, but left following the American Civil War to continue missionary work among the Damned. From that point he is know to have traveled throughout the South, maintaining his status among the Sanctum, and resided in the centrally located city of Little Rock to further direct his agendas and those of the Sanctified in the South for 80 years where he served as Primogen, Bishop, Cardinal, and Prince of that city. Recently he has returned to New Orleans and gained the praxis of his old "New World" home, vowing to restore it to a bastion of the Sanctified faith.

• While approachable, word has it that anyone who pushes Tiernan Callaghan too far will get a brutal and humiliating lesson in the nature of predators.
• Areas of the South have apparently tried to forbid even his mere presence, or that of his paladins, for fear or hatred of him. To this day, none have successfully done so and he continues to go where he pleases and where he feels he can serve Sanctified interests best.
• Callaghan is suspected of being in league with the Brood. It has been noticed and commented on that wherever he goes Brood show up as well.
• Callaghan is believed to be a member of VII, along with another fellow Cardinal.

• It is rumored that the Cardinal has engaged in various religious and philosophical debates in the last century or so with a pair of Dragons, Alexa Veda Karan and Iskander Karan of Athens. Though they allegedly have not yet managed to agree on any particular point of discussion - especially on the definition of a heretic.
• There have been instances where the Cardinal has shown extreme disfavor towards any who laud the ancient Norse, or elders that are old enough and claim such ethnic roots. Some say he is still quite angry over the destruction of a particular monastery over a thousand years ago by Viking raiders.
• Cardinal Callaghan has been spotted in the South Floridas, rebuilding his power base, in league with Bishop Karl Aiden of Miami, and aided by his trusted Legate, Talon Ferrell.
