Prior to his Lancea Conversion, very little is known of his activities. He was converted to the faith in the late 1700's by Carlo Giolotti, now of the Northwest United States. He spent several years traveling and studying before becoming annointed and embarking upon the Shepherd's path as a nomad.

When Ethan decided to settle from his Nomad days, he chose to settle in Atlanta because the Sanctified's reputation there was relatively poor. They were a small covenant surrounded by strong enemies and were largely struggling to continue, let alone flourish. Since his arrival and assumption of control, he has brought nearly a half dozen old converts to help solidify the Sanctified hold in the city. Consequently the Sanctified have gone from 2 believers to almost 12. He recently helped overthrow the city from Carthian rule and was on it's ruling council for 6 months. Tonight, Ethan wholeheartedly support the Invictus as sole rulers in Atlanta in a solid and mutually beneficial alliance which has freed him to concentrate on the spiritual wellbeing of the city while still watching the politics.

The success in Atlanta has attracted other Sanctified from around the South, who have now worked out Alliance enough that Atlanta is the center of a far flung nascent Archbishopric. While only three Bishops have so far agreed to the arrangement as is, several other cities have expressed interest in joining fates as one body. It is the plan of all involved that the Sanctified so joined will all have a more effective agenda for survival and growth.

In less political events, the Spear which made its way to Milwaukee did so after being wrested from Crone control in Atlanta by Father Candler. He sent it north to meet the Cardinals and it was delievered by the Father's Legate, Thomas Gellert. At the same time, the journal of Cade also found it's way into his sphere of influence. He sent that northwards as well in the care of his newest childe, Nora Tyler. Both items made it safely to the leaders and were addressed with due care.

Father Candler sees his role in the Sanctified as similar to that of the American Preacher Archetype. Despite his political successes, he has repeatedly stated he has little taste for raw political power. His most satisfying moments are those spent in palaver with other kindred, or in hunting. He finds great joy in what he views as the sacredness of feeding. As he has stated before, "We exist so that they might suffer and face God." As a Shepherd, Ethan has been seen trying to convince the most unlikely of converts, considering that anyone who might believe is worth his time.
