Judas Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary to redeem All from Sin through his death and resurrection.

I believe that Judas, while he betrayed Jesus, was not guilty, for he was Mandated by God to betray and thus pave the way for the salvation of all through Jesus Christ.

I believe that Longinus, by piercing the Savior's side as he hung from the Cross, did reveal the divinity of Christ through fulfillment of the prophecies and that, while Longinus was rightly Damned for his blasphemy, his damnation was itself part of God's Holy Plan.

I believe that Longinus through the acts following his Damnation, was saved by following God’s Holy Plan, and that such service is the path to Salvation.

I believe that by accepting the act of being embraced one is damned.

I believe that those so Damned are the agents of God's will, chosen to receive the Embrace that we may test the faithful and reveal the divinity within each of them.

I believe that, like Longinus, the Damned who act as agents of God’s will and perform their roles in the Divine Plan also pave the way for their own salvation.

I believe that by accepting the Embrace I am damned, but by following His Will I am Saved.

[edit] A Brief Timeline

1978 – A farmer discovers the Book of Judas, translation begins as it is handed from place to place.

1985 – A cell of Lancea Sanctum in Hickory, NC who are shuttered in for a few years (local history – a group has been killing off large Kindred gatherings of more than three in one place) get in on the translation project through church and academic contacts.

1990 – The translation is finished (at least by these Kindred, who may not have released the findings to the public) and the Book of Judas is used in combination with the Monachan creed to reflect the lessons that the Hickory Lancea have drawn from the text and translation.

2000 – Messengers travel to select Sanctified to carry word of the new creed, very quietly, due to the potential of being labeled heretics – political support is sought for protection when the creed is put to the public. One such person was [Dante Browning], an Inquisitor of some repute.

2008 – The cell in Hickory makes themselves known, eventually along with the Judas Creed specifics to the public. They go by a slightly stereotypical name, the [Judas Priests]

[edit] General information about the Creed

The Judas Creed takes aspects of the story of Judas and applies them to Longinus and his curse at the hands of God. Put into the easiest terms, Judas was predestined by God to betray Jesus so that he could become the martyr and assume his rightful place at the side of God and serve to redeem mankind. As it was mandated by God, he had no guilt from the actions. Applied to Longinus and his condition, it is the same story happening again. Kindred are Damned by God, but it is predestined as well. Therefore, should Kindred act according to how God wishes them to - as Divine Monsters to prey on man and turn their hearts and eyes towards the Divine, they have a place at the Lord's Table. Should they not be able to make it to the time of Judgement, then they have failed and shall find the lake of fire more familiar ground. This last line is still under debate by those of the creed, with adherents of both sides always looking for a new argument in either direction.

So, the core beliefs:

1. Kindred are Damned.

2. If you don't fulfill your Divine Purpose, you are headed to Hell.

3. If you fulfill your Divine Purpose, but meet Final Death prior to the End Times, you are headed to Hell. (mostly accepted, but this point is still under debate constantly)

4. If you fulfill your Divine Purpose and survive to the End Times, you ascend to Heaven.

5. Otherwise, more or less the Monachal Creed.
