[edit] History of the Order
On June 10, 2006, in Tampa, Florida, USA, the Ordo Preasidium Sanctum was founded to protect and guard the Lancea Sanctum and the Sanctified. Cardinal Areox de la Cruz anointed Thomas Knowlton as Grandmaster, with Cardinal Archbishop Mackenzie DuMont and several others as witnesses.
The Order was dissolved in July 2007 by order of Thomas Knowlton, who cited irreconcilable differences. He suggested that anyone seeking to refrom the OPS instead form their own Order.
[edit] Joining the Order
Thomas has stated that he will accept anyone into the order that he feels will be able to help guard the Sanctified and the Covenenat. He has said that Crusaders, Paladins, and Inquisitors are all welcome among others. Thus far he has denied those who hold the office of Bishop (or higher office), because he does not wish to put a diocese at risk of losing its spiritual leader. However, he has noted that this may change as the Order grows, and he still maintains the support of several notable Sanctified.
Those interested in joining the Order should contact Thomas, who watches the email list frequently. Thus far, Thomas has personally interviewed all candidates. They must sit a vigil for at least one night, and answer all questions from himself or from anyone. If Thomas is impressed by the responses, he administers the Oath, the next night.
[edit] Typical Questions
"How can you contribute to the defense of the Lancea Sanctum? What role do you see yourself having in the Order?"
This is primarily to probe the candidate's interest and how he sees himself contributing. It will determine if he is a typical "knight-militant" of if he will fill another role.
"What other commitments do you have, including any other offices or positions? Are you under any other oaths or blood bonds? How will you resolve these potential conflicts with your oath to the Order?"
Thomas has been very wary of conflicts of interest of any sort, and he uses this question to see if the candidate understands potential conflicts.
"Describe for me a fight you were in that did not go as well as it could have. Describe what went wrong and how you would do it differently now."
This is a typical question posed to candidates to determine their experience and tactical reasoning.
"What concerns or rumors have you heard about the existence of the Order, and what would you do to address and ease these concerns?"
This is used to determine if the candidate is aware of the problems facing the Order and how best to address them.
"How does your own behavior reflect on the Order, and how will this change how you interact with other Sanctified and others of the damned?"
This question will provide insight into the discipline of the candidate. If he understands that his behavior reflects on the Order, it will be apparent. If he just looks for the Order to sanction his current actions and beliefs, it will also be apparent.

[edit] Knight's Oath
The Knight's Oath is taken for anyone joining the Order. A Grandmaster or Master swears in the candidate.
Candidate: "I do solemnly swear by Almighty God and His Name, and in free and voluntary desire, to serve as Knight of the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum. I do swear by the Eternal Power of God that I shall be the child of the Lancea Sanctum , and I shall obey my commanders and give aid to my brethren. I take as gospel the Testament of Longinus and I shall observe its teachings. I shall defend the Lancea Sanctum and I shall respect all followers of Longinus, consider myself their Holy Guardian. I shall not recoil before the enemy. I shall make war against any who attack the Lancea Sanctum without cessation and without mercy. I shall scrupulously perform first my duties as God has set down for me in the Testament of Longinus; second my duties to the Lancea Sanctum; and third my duties to the Ordo Praesidum Sanctum; these before all other duties. This oath do I give of my own free and independent will, so help me God."
Once he says the oath, the Grandmaster anoints the candidate with the sword of his choice as a Knight of the Ordo Prasidum Sanctum.
Grandmaster: "Arise Brother <name> as Knight-militant of the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum and Guardian of the Lancea Sanctum."

The Patron's Oath, is mmuch like the Knight's Oath, but only swears to provide safe haven and supplies for the Order. This Oath is given by a Grandmaster or Master Patron.
Candidate: "I do solemnly swear by Almighty God and His Name, and in free and voluntary desire, to serve as Patron of the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum. I do swear by the Eternal Power of God that I shall be the child of the Lancea Sanctum , and I shall support and aid my brethren. I take as gospel the Testament of Longinus and I shall observe its teachings. I shall provide sanctuary and safe haven for all faithful followers of Longinus. I shall seek sponsorship and provide supplies needed for the Knights of the Order to do their tasks. I shall scrupulously perform first my duties as God has set down for me in the Testament of Longinus; second my duties to the Lancea Sanctum; and third my duties to the Ordo Praesidum Sanctum; these before all other duties. This oath do I give of my own free and independent will, so help me God."
Once he says the oath, the Grandmaster anoints the candidate with the sword of his choice as a Patron of the Ordo Prasidum Sanctum.
Grandmaster: "Arise Brother <name> as Knightpatron of the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum and Guardian of the Lancea Sanctum."

The Master's Oath is taken by a Knight after joining the Order to become a leader of the Order for a specific task or area. A Grandmaster must anoint the new Master.
Candidate: "I do solemnly swear by Almighty God and His Name, and in free and voluntary desire, to serve as Master of the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum. I swear to lead the knights under my command, in times of peace and in times of war. I swear to train the Knights in the arts of warfare and to mentor them in their role as Holy Guardians. I swear to act as priest and confessor to the Knights under my command. This oath do I give of my own free and independent will, so help me God."
Once he says the oath, the Cardinal anoints the candidate with the sword of his choice as a Grandmaster of the Ordo Prasidum Sanctum.
Cardinal: "Arise Brother <name> as Master of <area> of the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum and Guardian of the Lancea Sanctum."

The Grandmaster's Oath is taken by a Knight after joining the Order to become the leader of the Order. Usually a high ranking Sanctified will anoint the new Grandmaster, such as a Cardinal, although another Grandmaster may do so.
Candidate: "I do solemnly swear by Almighty God and His Name, and in free and voluntary desire, to serve as Grandmaster of the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum. I swear to lead the knights of the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum in times of peace and in times of war. I swear to train the Knights in the arts of warfare and to mentor them in their role as Holy Guardians. I swear to act as priest and confessor to the Knights under my command. This oath do I give of my own free and independent will, so help me God."

Thus far the Order seems to have little Organization except for the Grandmaster who supervises the order. Grandmasters are anointed with the authority of a Bishop regarding matters of the Order.
[edit] Rumors
Since the creation of the Order, copious rumors have been heard within the covenant as well as outside.
- The Order is an attempt to put the Lancea Sanctum under military control
- The Order is a tool of the Curia Cruentus
- Thomas was not anointed, but claimed the title for himself; this rumor is patently false, given that his anointing was conducted in public in the eyes of many witnesses
- The Order was created as part of a plan to attack other Covenants
- The Order do not extend their reach to Australia
- The Order is to be apart of way of "cleansing" the Lancea Sanctum
- Nobody expects the Ordo Praesidium Sanctum!
- Some among the Curia do not think that having a separate Grand Master in Europe is wise, and consider the Europeans subordinate to the original order created in North America.
