Our Divine Purpose

Brothers and Sisters,

We are gathered here today in the glory of the Almighty, He who Damned us to this existence.

Do any here claim to know why God has Damned us? What is our purpose in God’s Divine Plan?

To understand our purpose, we must first understand the beginning. In the book of Genesis we are given details about how God went about creating the world. After the end of the first chapter, man is created from the dust of the earth and given into the garden of Eden. Man was not satisfied with what he had been given. Man wanted companionship. So God created for him Woman. God had told both that they could eat from any tree within the garden save the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God’s plan for Man and for Woman was for them to rule over the plants and animals he had created. All they were to do was worship him as the Almighty, and to abstain from eating the fruit of one single tree. Beguiled by the serpent, the Woman, or Eve as she came to be called, chose to ignore the instructions of God. She ate the fruit of the tree, and then she convinced her husband to do the same. They sinned against God, because they went against his wishes. Due to this, they were thrust from the garden where they had food aplenty. They now had to use the sweat from their brow to eat. Eve now was to endure pain during childbirth, because of her deceit. Finally, the Serpent would forever more crawl on its belly, and would be reviled by those humans who saw it.

Even after this, their betrayal of God’s Divine Plan, God gave to them clothing made from the skins of animals. God truly is both merciful and just.

We, Brothers and Sisters, have already been Damned. Our curse was brought to us by our sires, a sin that they committed. The act of the Embrace has cut us off from God’s grace entirely. However, God has a plan for us as well, we who call ourselves Kindred.

Longinus has revealed this to us through his Testament. At the end of his first book, The Malediction, the Archangel Vahishtael communicates this to him. Longinus had been seeking meaning to this, our Curse, much as many of we do upon our Embrace. The Archangel instructed him thus: Our purpose is to strike fear into the hearts of the mortals, thereby driving them to the only refuge they have. The Church is that refuge, the worship of God is what we are to drive them towards. Just as the humans were given dominion over the beasts of the field, the birds of the sky, and the fish in the sea, we have been given dominion over them. They are our sustenance.

In the Book of Genesis, we see what curses God can bestow upon those who are unwilling to follow his Divine Plan. Some of you will say that we have been cursed already, what more can be done?

That to has been addressed by Longinus, Father of the Church. The Archangel Vahishtael gave unto him the knowledge you seek. For those of us who do not carry out our purpose, we will spend eternity in the fiery pits of Hell. This judgement was already bestowed upon us when our sires Embraced us. For those of us who strive to take our part in his plan as his instruments, we will be judged on our efforts in this regard.

Brothers and Sisters, I call upon you now. God’s Plan for us has been revealed to us through the Testament of Longinus. In his mercy, God has given us the blue-print we need. Do you have the courage to fulfill God’s plan for you, or are you, like Adam and Eve not satishfied with the role God has ordained for you. Can I count upon you, Brothers and Sisters, to work towards this Plan in your nightly lives?

Any who wish to dedicate themselves to actively enacting the will of our Lord Almighty, please come forward and be recognized by your Brothers and Sisters as we sing in praise of our Lord.

(Begin a hymn; Amazing Plan; if any come forward, explain to them the ritae of the Dark Baptism; followed by a prayer to end the service; should they wish to proceed, the ritae will be performed following the hymn; should they not, at the very least the rest of the congregation will note their lack of faith; should no one come forward after the end of the hymn, lead a prayer to conclude the service)

Almighty Father, Ye who Damned us to our nightly existence, We do ask you to aid us in seeing the ways we can fulfill your Divine Plan as we go about the drudgery of our Requiems. (If any came forward, ask God to look upon them with favour as they do his work) Lord, we also give thanks unto you for placing us above the mortals, and for the Vitae that they bequeath to us as we perform your wishes. Heavenly Father, we also note those who are not among us this evening. We ask you to grant them the wisdom to come to your path, the courage to do so against the detractors of your divine message, so that they too can know the peace that comes with knowing that you have a plan even for us. And I say that their truly is peace in knowing this, O Lord. The peace of knowing we have a purpose, the peace of knowing that even now we can come to you someday and be judged for how we have enacted your plan for us in our lives. Thank you gracious Lord,

In your name, Amen
