The Dialectic Library
Scripture
The Testament of Longinus is the core book of Scripture within the Lancea Sanctum, honored by Sanctified worldwide as the tale of our founder's Damnation and the revelation to him of our Holy Purpose.
- Translation 1 (OOC: WW descriptions and quotations of the Testament.)
- Translation 2 (OOC: The "working" Testament, compiled by Wade Racine.)
The library hosts several copies of the Testament of Longinus. One of them is a leather-bond book dating from the late 1500’s. The book is written in a very exact calligraphy, and is a full text of the Testament of Longinus in duplicate…once in Japanese and once in Latin. It was written transcribed by Edward the Confessor when he first arrived in Japan, among the first missionaries to step foot upon the Japanese Islands, as he learned the Japanese language.
In addition to the Testament, many Sanctified still find the stories and ideas in mortal scripture useful. Depending on their Creed, they may turn to the Bible, the Torah or the Koran for further insight into God's Plan.
Canon, Catechism and Law
The Sanguineous Catechism is, after the Testament of Longinus, the most important theological work in the Church, laying out the Dark Prophet's first apostle's interpretation of his revelations and their meaning for the Damned.
Scholarship on the Sanguineous Catechism:
- A Conversation on the Sanguineous Catechism, by Brother Tolerance and H.E. Mackenzie Cardinal DuMont, with a standardization of Canonical Notation.
- A Conversation on the Canons, recorded between Bishop Joachin X. Mendoza and Father James Whitmore, Th.D.
- On The Third Cannon, by Dr. Tanis Cassian
- The 9th Cannon and the Curia, by Karl Orff
- Regarding the Recognition of Wisdom within our ranks, by Lady Dirae, emissary of Cardinal de Béthune of the Low Countries
- On the Embrace, a Sermon on the Second Tradition by Bishop George Goodcab of Indianapolis, IN
- A Treatise on the Canons, by Deacon Nadia Borremans of the Low Countries
- On Amaranth, by H.E. Maledetto Tramonto, Cardinal-Exarch of Toronto
The Catechism, not to be confused with the Sanguineous Catechism, is a text used by many Sanctified in explaining the faith and our Purpose to other Kindred. It is a list of questions we all ask before we find our answers through God's plan for us, along with answers to guide others to the word of Longinus.
The Westminster Creed Catechism explains the basic theological beliefs of the Westminster Creed of Sanctified, including its divergeance from the latter parts of the Sanguineous Catechism.
Also explore the Lance's Canon Law on these "internal" topics:
- Excommunication - The most basic full disciplinary measure of the Sanctified.
- Interdict - written by Father General Aroex Xaviar Bastian Valario de la Cruz
- Laicization - written by Father General Aroex Xaviar Bastian Valario de la Cruz
- Suspension - written by Father General Aroex Xaviar Bastian Valario de la Cruz

Creeds
The Sanctified Creeds are statements of faith around which members of the Church organize their own beliefs. There are three major Creeds, whose many followers comprise a great majority of the Sanctified, far more minor Creeds with handfuls of adherents and innumerable personal Creeds held by Sanctified whose faith is not defined in any of the others. In this listing, "minor" and "major" reference only the number of adherents, rather than holding any evaluative meaning.
Major Creeds
Minor Creeds
- The Byzantine Creed
- Byzantine Mysteries: the Path of Being, by Archbishop Cassius Callaghan, Presbyter of the Byzantine Creed
- The Menitrean Creed
- Answers to the Inquisition into the Menitrean Creed, by Aleron Ahzwale, "Saint of Wings, Saint of Eloban"
HERESIES: Most often begun as personal or local Creeds, Heresies present a danger to church orthodoxy and, therefore, cohesion and education of new members. The following Creeds and groups have been deemed heretical by either the Curia Cruentas, or a sizeable number of dioceses around the world.
