Brief descritions of the ritae
Contents |
[edit] Apostolica
The full religious rituals of the Lancea Sanctum, Apostolica vary in style and content from practitioner to practitioner, but are almost always recognizable in their basic forms, most borrowed and adapted from the rites of the early mortal church.
[edit] Midnight Mass
The most common and possibly most important rite celebrated by Sanctified is the Midnight Mass, always held at that time unless circumstances do not allow. In all parishes, Midnight Mass brings together the local congregation for communion with the Testament and their brethren. Whether like unto Catholic Mass or more akin to Quaker Testimonials, Mass provides Sanctified a regular opportunity to share their faith.

[edit] Annointing
When a member of the church takes new responsibility within the congregation, holding an office of use to their fellows or fulfilling a duty of import to the Church, they are often Annointed to that role by the leader of their diocese. Again varied by celebrant, Annointings frequently take the form of brief private services in which the Annointee is marked in some way with a symbol of the role they are to take.

[edit] Confessional
While sin is a matter entirely different for the Damned than for mortals, vampires can still stray from the Path God has set before them. When they do, part of reclaiming the moral ground lost in the transgression is its admittance and the performance of penance for it. Confessional provides Sanctified with an opportunity to lay bare their faults before God and receive absolution for those sins they truly regret.

[edit] Creation Rites
The Creation Ritae of the Lancea Sanctum serve as a sort of Baptism into the church, ritually imparting the basics of faith to those being brought into the covenant. In rites of embrace, the sin of the Sire is a dominant theme, though even rites for converts deal heavily with the shameful necessity that Damned said convert in the first place.
