Often mistaken for a Ventrue, Santiago is something of a mystery even among the elusive Mekhet. In a clan of prone exclusively to theatricality and deception this one holds no illusions about him. He is described of being absent of any subtlety -- his words as blunt as they are bold, assimilating the full force of his convictions. He promotes the ideal that God favors only the strong adopting a highly romanticized view of his purpose in damnation that many consider pathological. For some, there is an unusual comfort to be found in his certainty -- for the rest there is only a rising sense of impending doom.

At the height of the Spanish Conquest he led the Sanctified to victory over the ancient vampires of Mexico destroying Coatlicue the old devouring mother; one of the progenitors of the Circle of the Crone, eldest of the ancients, and mother to them all. This act was glorified by the covenant and to this night is still widely perceived as miraculous. Santiago was anointed Sacred Spear of Longinus -- an honorary title befitting one who embodies both the form and function of the coven's namesake. He is a weapon to be wielded for the glory of Longinus -- a consummate predator -- a cold, calculated, and profoundly talented killer, who's sole purpose in undeath is the extermination of his covenant's enemies.

Despite his irrefutable utility there are some who seek to bury him beneath an avalanche of inadequacies, referencing his short reign in Mexico as a political disaster and a testament to his failure as a complete predator -- to them he a relic of the past and a threat to the future of the Covenant. However, those who extol the Patron Saint of Crusaders argue that they are simply unworthy and incapable of understanding the divine righteousness of their blessed Cardinal, claiming that God guides his every action and regardless of how things may appear in the short term, time will prove His Eminence unerring.

  • Santiago's wallet is the one that says "Bad Mother Fucker" on it.

  • Santiago is not Khaibit. He claims decent from an entity called Lasombra known only by the terrifying powers it employed.
  • Charli is Santiago's true sire; his blood was kept from him until 'she' felt he was strong enough to handle it.
  • Vampires of native Mexican decent glorify Santiago as a Saint and God-Noble Hybrid, "the literal embodiment of God's will on earth."
  • After slaying the Crone matriarch Coatlicue Santiago cowed her followers into servitude forcing them to betray and murder their own.
