The Shroud of the Lance
A black linen cloth, with what appears to be the outline of a spear head stained in a reddish color upon it.
Believed to have been the linen that the Spear of Destiny was kept secure in while it was held in the Black Abbey. The linen is believed to have been separated from the holy relic shortly after it was taken from the Black Abbey during the confusion following the death of the Monachus. The shroud found it's way from the hands of Sanctified, ending up in Istanbul were it was kept for many years, believed to bestow a bit of the divine blessing upon any weapon it is touched to.
During the fall of the temple in Istanbul, the shroud was taken to Moscow, were it remained for many more years, until taken by the Sanctified who carried it from Istanbul, to the Americas.
The cloth when viewed with Auspex, or other Mystical means seems to have a faint golden glow, and resonates with a feeling sacred in nature. This feeling has been imbued into this item due to the faith poured towards it by hundreds of believers.
The Ceremony of the Shrouds Blessing
Those who would have their weapons blessed in the name of Loginus, in service to Gods dark work through Kindred kind, kneel before the priest performing the Ceremony. The faithful have received confession, communion, and been blessed by the Priest, with blood and fragrant oil. The priest removes the shroud from the ornate rose wood and ivory box that it is held safe within, and holds it aloft intoning a prayer to God, invoking the name of the Dark Prophet and the power of the sacred Lance through the Shroud. The Shroud is then touched to each weapon, the priest chanting “Blessed of the Blood”, as each weapon is touched the faithful cut themselves, pouring their blood upon the weapon, in holy devotion to their cause.
If the priest is truly blessing the weapon, using the Theban Sorcery ritual “Legionnaire’s Blessing” the power of the Shroud grants a + 1 equipment bonus to the casting of the ritual. It is believed that each weapon blessed in such a way, used or not has been touched by the divine, and thus is sacred within its own right. However, it is considered a terrible abuse of Gods blessings to repeatedly bless the same weapon, or for a faithful warrior to receive the blessing too frequently, for although we are damned, it is still not wise to tempt God's wrath. Storytellers are encouraged to have horrible things befall any that abuse this blessing.
Currently the relic is in the safe keeping of Father Dominik Ruric Chernov of the Icarian Line, in Rome, Ga.
