The Diocesan Dialectic
From LanceaSanctum
An informal association of pastors worldwide built to facilitate discussion of the Apostolica, Ecclesia, prayers, motivational style and diocese leadership, as well as development of new prayers and ritae, including ritae to support and strengthen Sanctified clergy. The Diocesan Dialectic is founded on the notion that pastors' best resources are each other and each other's experience. In it, members ask questions, and while answers may arise, the point is the questions and the ongoing dialectic.
History of The Diocesan Dialectic
The Diocesan Dialectic was proposed to the Sanctified on October 14, 2006, by Bishop J.W.Ghoren during a Sermon given on the occasion of the opening seminar of a Noviciate in Halen, Belgium (that sermon can be found here). Later that evening, Cardinal-Archbishops Monseigneur Jean-Baptiste Charles de Béthune and Mackenzie DuMont annointed Bishop Ghoren as the Society's first Rector, with the task of setting up the Dialectic between Dioceses and assisting in the creation of Halen's LS Hub of Knowledge. A few days after returning home from Belgium, on October 18, Ghoren issued the Call to Dialectic to Pastors worldwide.
In the short time since, the society has begun to grow in number and has worked hard to grow its collected works of Sanctified theology and scholarship. To contribute your character's Mass, other Ritae, Sermons, Prayers or other Sanctified writings, please contact the current Dean of Resources of the society. To view this collection, scroll down and visit the society's resource database.

Practices and Policies
The Diocesan Dialectic will provide - organically and communally - support to the Pastors who participate in numerous ways, including:
eDialectic
The most active form of the ongoing dialogue the Diocesan Dialectic seeks to create will be its on-going electronic fora for Pastors to ask each other diocese or parish questions, share and discuss ritae, sermons and Scripture, and discuss methods of sharing and spreading the faith.
Live Dialectic
Whenever Pastors are able to gather in number, the Dialectic will seek to host live fora for discussion, including seminars on diocese issues and other topics, sessions for ritae development and discussion and general theological or church debate. Where possible, the order will seek to establish ties with other Sanctified organizations, such as Novitiates or Apostolaries, for the betterment of all who take on the responsibility of bringing others to their Purpose.
Pastor Resource Development
From time to time, issues arising from the Dialectic's discussions may merit greater focus. In such cases, small groups of Curates may come together to work on these more intensively. Projects will include the writing of prayers and special Sermons, the development of ritae, research into matters of dogma or church practice, and on-going creation of a database of Scripture, theology and other resources for Pastors.
Currently/Soon In Development:
- A Sanctified Rite for Unions of the Damned
- A Rite for the Shameful Necessity of the Embrace
- A Collection of Quadragesima prayers, sermons and other ritae
Resource Databasing
All resources developed by the society, or contributed through discussion or other means by its members, will be recorded in a secure database accessible only to Sanctified (secured by a dynamic test of Testament and Catechism knowledge as a password). This will include searchable scripture, sermons and services, as well as archives of theological discussions and other resources, including teaching methods developed by the Dialectic, frameworks for running a Diocese or parish, and others.
The Dialectic works in partnership with the Lancea Hub of Knowledge at the Halen Novitiate in Belgium. It will work hand in hand with the Novitiate to build a store of Sanctified Theology and Academia for the benefit of the whole Church. In addition to helping fill the Hub with Knowledge, the Dialectic will also work to make appropriate parts of the Hub's library available electronically to Pastors worldwide through its own Resource Database.
The Diocesan Dialectic welcomes partnerships with other Sanctified institutions and groups, as well. Please contact the Dean of Resources, currently Bishop Ghoren of Delaware, if you wish to explore possibilities for such a partnership.
Joining The Diocesan Dialectic
The Diocesan Dialectic's mission to serve as a tool for those who administer dioceses is complemented by a commitment to providing a place where such leaders can discuss the facets of leadership with their peers. Therefore, only pastors - those Sanctified who have been Annointed to lead a parish or diocese - may earn the Dialectic's unique honorific of "Curatus." Similarly, becoming a full member of the Dialectic is restricted to Pastors, with exceptions made for Damned of exceptional experience and wisdom at the discretion of the Rector or appropriate Dean of the Society.
All Sanctified who wish to learn, about the Pastoral role, are welcome to join the Dialectic, to add to and and partake of the shared wisdom within.
The Society is presently forming and always looking for more Pastors to contribute to the dialogue. Those interested should:
- Join the List via the web at Yahoo! Groups (best for Yahoo! users - include Cam and character info in "Comment to Owner"), or
- Send an email here.
Organization
Pastors
The backbone of the Dialectic, a Pastor is any Sanctified who oversees a parish or diocese, or who holds a clerical position in the church. All pastors may access the resources of the Dialectic, adding to and benefiting from their peers' wisdom. Sanctified clergy include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Deacons
- Priests (Reverend Mother/Reverend Father)
- Bishops
- Archbishops
- Cardinals
Curates
Once a pastor has demonstrated commitment to the Dialectic - answering others' questions and asking questions that enrich the whole - he shall be made a full member of the Dialectic, and Annointed "Curate" in recognition of his or her dedication to the art of running his or her Diocese. (A member of the Dialectic who is Bishop in his or her Diocese, therefore, would be "Bishop-Curate" in regard to the Dialectic.)
Deans of the Dialectic
Each aspect of the Dialectic - Discussion Lists, Resource Database, Ecclesiastic Research and Seminars - shall be overseen by a Dean, elected from among the Curates on a yearly basis and Annointed to his role by the Rector of the order.
- The Dean of the Dialectic for Resources shall be responsible for maintaining and updating the Dialectic Database of past discussions, Dialectic-generated ritae and other religious resources.
- The Dean of the Dialectic for Research shall be responsible for overseeing and coordinating special projects (such as developing ritae, studying canon for clarity or designing diocese resources), and shall have authority to name Curates to lead said projects once proposed during the Dialectic.
- The Dean of the Dialectic for Seminars shall be responsible for organizing and executing events held by the Dialectic. He or she shall facilitate regular gatherings for Dialectic as well as facilitating cooperative seminars with other Sanctified institutions, such as the Novitiate in Halen, Belgium.
- The Dean of the Dialectic for Discussion shall have the following duties: maintaining and overseeing Dialectic discussion lists, monitoring content only for respectfulness of tone. The Dean for Discussion shall have the authority to maintain the list of Open Topics and to call unproductive discussions to a close.
Rector
The administrator of the order - for there is no "leader" - chosen from among the Curates on a twice-yearly basis, is called the Rector, and shall be Annointed to the role by the Curate who is most highly respected among his brethren. He or She will have primary responsibility for maintaining the roll of membership, for overseeing the selection of Deans and a new Rector, for arranging the Annointing of Curates and Deans to the Dialectic as necessary, and for overseeing and coordinating the Deans' varying endeavors. Though there is no limit to how many times a Curate can serve as Rector, none shall do so more than twice consecutively.
Prayers and Ritae of The Diocesan Dialectic
One of the requirements for full membership as a Curate in the Dialectic is the contribution of one's own theological works to-date, including Sermons, Apostolica and other writings. These, along with others obtained through partnerships with other organizations in the Church and those developed through the on-going Dialectic, will be stored for Pastors' reference worldiwde.
