The Inquisition
From LanceaSanctum
There is no organized global "Inquisition" in the mortal meaning of the word, a common mistake among the neonates of the Lance who still confuse the Sanctum for the Catholic church.
If an organized group did exist they certainly would not advertise it.
Each Inquisitor derives his authority from at least one Bishop or Cardinal.
While not truely a faction of its own. Inquisitors from various areas often collaborate to track the movements of known criminals and to share important information and warnings between cities.
There is also a nominal structure whereby older, more experienced Inquisitors train and support the neonate Inquisitors under their perview.
Those Inquisitors given authority in more than one diocese are often called "High Inquisitor" or some similar title, and will sometimes travel a circuit to acting as a supervisor/advisor to Local Inquistors within a geographic area, sometimes covering whole states.
For a detailed description of how an Inquisition can be organized you can consult Inquisition in the Low Countries, the seminal work by Cardinal de Béthune.
