[edit] Order of Devoured Sin
[edit] Premise
Also called the Shrouded, the Order of Devoured Sin believes that mortals hold every sin, known and unknown. When embraced you become the part of the Will of God to "show the evils of turning from Him" and to "become the Darkness so the Light appears brightest". To do this you must understand each sin so you can punish it in turn. Unfortunately, you are dead and no longer can sin. The Shrouded believe that you must take the sin you need to understand from a human that has committed that sin. They do this by performing a ritual (see below) over the victim and then drinking until the victim passes out. This takes the sin into them without them actually having to do the act.
[edit] Origins
Originally formed in the twisted mind of Stephen de Ocham the order was to be the perfect monsters. Self absorbed, Stephen took it upon himself to experience every sin there was for how could you punish something you did not understand or experience. Stephen began to hunt those with sins he did not experience. In drinking their blood he took into himself the sin they had adding to his own making him more and more the monster God wanted him to be. After a few years, Stephen began to look at the Lancea Sanctum. Believing himself now more enlightened he began to purge the LS of those who were heretics and so-so LS. He also became the watchdog removing threats from outside the LS so those who were faithful can continue to grow unhindered and fearlessly.
He gathered like minded individuals. Being Ventrue, he was suspicious of any who he saw so he took on the name Pillar and covered himself in red flowing robes and masked his face.
[edit] The Creation
The Order of Devoured Sin's members all come from those excommunicated from the Catholic church, tossed out of some religious organization, or who have rejected forgiveness for some sin. No member is insane or overly emotional for these are the signs of weakness.
[edit] Costume
The Shrouded should never have their head exposed. Most wear hoods that cover almost all the head. They believe to show the head even at night is to reveal the amount of sin of the world invoking His wrath. Costumes should be dark and flowing. Robes of black and red are preferred. People should look at you and fear you or shy away. You are evil and growing more so. Costumes should have no symbols (upside down crosses, ankhs, pentagrams, etc). Your own presence should tell people what you are.
[edit] Rituals
Drinking the Sin: While not an actual game mechanic, the Shrouded believe that this actually works. Sin resides in the blood. By praying over a human that has committed a sin you have not embodied, you ask God to take the one specific sin (since taking them all would make him pure and what good would that do) into you. Once the prayer is done the vampire drinks until the mortal passes out. The Shrouded now believes that they have taken that sin into them self and in so can punish the sinner better.
[edit] Bans
No member can eat from the pure. Those who are truly forgiven (example: those who have been to confession, truly have faith that they are forgiven of all sins, etc) can not sustain the Shrouded. If they feed off one it is instantly thrown back up and the member must go to penance. No member has a derangement that is violent or hostile or causes a scene. Members are all quiet and brooding.
